Why not make the most of your time at university and get involved?
Volunteer experience is becoming increasingly important as the market for jobs becomes more competitive and employers seek students that have more than just a strong academic record. Volunteering can not only improve your CV but also help you expand your network circle and build on many transferable skills that employers look for in potential candidates. Please see below for more information on how you can get involved with the DeGroote Accounting Association (DAA) and make a contribution to McMaster or the surrounding community.
Within the Association
Every year the DeGroote Accounting Association looks for volunteers interested in being part of the executive team. These positions are highly sought after as they provide the successful candidates with an invaluable experience. The DAA is still in search of a first year executive and will be promoting this position at clubsfest – interviews for this position will take place in September. All other positions have been filled for the 2010/2011 term. All of the positions will be open for applications for the 2011/2012 term at the end of February so please join our mailing list to keep updated or continue to check our website.
There are many events held throughout the year that would not be possible without our volunteers. These include but are not limited to our industry nights (i.e. CA Night, CMA Night, and CGA Night), speaker events, workshops, Accounting Mentorship Program (AMP), and our tax clinic. Please join our mailing list if you would like to keep updated with current volunteer opportunities or check back here for updates.
Within the Community
We are currently working with the business community to organize a volunteer day in which students will have the opportunity to interact with employees from the accounting field and partake in an event that will make a contribution to a worthy cause. More information will be posted shortly.
